“Free from HURT”
A Dialogue

CHILD: God, how do I do what you’re asking of me? How do I get free from the HURT?

GOD: First, Take up the shield of faith. As I said in Ephesians 6:16.

CHILD: But what about those people and what they say about me?

GOD: When you listen to what others say about you, you are putting the shield down.

CHILD: But they say…

GOD: You’ve lowered your shield..when you listen to what THEY say versus what I SAY.

CHILD: But those fiery darts…

GOD: When you stand behind what I SAY about you, the darts will not penetrate. My Word will handle ANY and all fiery darts.

CHILD: Ok…..then what?

GOD: Then you forgive them.

CHILD: WHAT??? Are you kidding me???? Can’t you get rid of them! Or at least hurt them in some way. Make them Pay for what they did?

GOD: Can you actually hear yourself my child?

CHILD: Yeah but….

GOD: My child, when you hold unforgiveness in your heart, it’s like you have taken poison and you HOPE someone else dies.

CHILD: I guess that doesn’t make much sense does it?

GOD: What do YOU think?

CHILD: OK….what’s next?

GOD: Once you forgive? Stop re-living it.

CHILD: Ok I can do that…but I won’t forget!

GOD: My Word says Forget what lies behind and  strain forward to what lies ahead, Philippians 3:13

CHILD: But that is HARD!  I can’t do that!

GOD: “Hard” is not an excuse NOT to win.

CHILD: This is impossible, God…I mean really….You’re GOD and I am just me. Little ol me. You expect too much….maybe???

GOD: DO you really want to be healed?

CHILD: Yes.

GOD: Then get busy about walking in love. Give into someone ELSE’S life. Expecting nothing in return.

CHILD: Sometimes I don’t feel like doing that.

GOD: Forgiveness is a DECISION…not a feeling

CHILD: Can you explain that to me?

GOD: There is a difference between for-GIVE-ing  and  for-SELL-ing.

CHILD: OK you lost me now….

GOD: That won’t happen….I know your heart. You try to hide.…but I know where you are at all times……you hide….I seek…I find. 

CHILD: No I mean I don’t understand.

GOD: Are you paying attention? Or are you thinking about skipping class AGAIN.

CHILD: No I mean..,..

GOD: Child, I KNOW what you mean. I DO have a sense of humor you know.

CHILD: You do??

GOD: Yes….I made YOU didn’t I???

CHILD: Point taken. 

GOD:  Forgiveness is for Free. NOT for sale. There are NO conditions.

CHILD: Hmmmm. I don’t always look at it like that.

GOD: I know. But think about this. I forgave YOU before you changed.

CHILD: Yes, you did…that is true.

GOD: Of course it is true. I can’t lie.

CHILD: What else do you want to teach me?

GOD: The last thing and this is a tough one….but I know you can do it.

CHILD: Ok I’m ready..what is it?

GOD: Stop making excuses why you are easily hurt.

CHILD: I don’t do that!

GOD: Child…

CHILD: Ok, maybe sometimes…

GOD: You like to use your past as your excuse. “I grew up in a dysfunctional home”, “I’m over-sensitive”, “I was abandoned”.  You have said these things, have you not?

CHILD: Yes I have said them.

GOD: And they appeared to justify the reasons why you get easily hurt or offended?

CHILD: Yes. Ok how do I become less concerned about my past and be more concerned about my future?

GOD: Again, Philippians 3:13. Develop in LOVE and maturity. GROW in love.
The pressures in life are a vital path toward development. Forget what lies behind and keep your eye on the goal, where I am beckoning you onward. Don’t turn back.

CHILD: Why do you spend this time with me? Your time is so precious.

GOD: I love you and …..John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

CHILD: God, I am confident when you are near me. You will always be there, won’t you?

GOD: And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
